Due to the global shortage of semiconductors, of which there are 100’s in every new car, we have for sometime now been experiencing much longer delivery times than normal with virtually no new cars in our dealer stock. We are currently looking at between 3 and 9 months delivery for most models as the supply issues have now been compounded by the ongoing conflict in the Ukraine. This has impacted component and parts supply for many car manufacturers, not forgetting also the impact on logistics and shipping.
So if you are thinking of changing your car in the next 12 months then we would recommend that you talk to us as soon as possible, especially if your current finance agreement is due to conclude within this period.
If your current car is on a Suzuki Finance PCP agreement then we can defer your final balloon payment till your new car arrives. Click here for full details.
Today, millions of products - cars, washing machines, smartphones, and more - rely on computer chips, also known as semiconductors. And right now, there just are not enough of them to meet industry demand. As a result, many popular products are in short supply.
As the world shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many factories closed with it, making the supplies needed for chip manufacturing unavailable for months. Increased demand for consumer electronics during this period, people working from home needing laptops etc to do their jobs, caused shifts that have rippled up the supply chain.
More recently, bad luck has exacerbated the problem. An atrocious winter storm in Texas shutdown semiconductor factories, and a fire at a plant in Japan caused similar delays. Logistical headaches are also compounding the situation.
Chip makers are responding to sustained demand by increasing capacity but that takes time, not least because semiconductor factories cost billions to build. Industry experts have suggested that the current supply situation could last until late 2022 / early 2023.
If you order your new car now you will be entitled to the current offers, even though we will not be able to supply the car for many months. We will also guarantee your part exchange price! Giving you total peace of mind.
It goes without saying that the supply of new cars also has an impact on the used car market. With customers having to keep their current vehicle longer (not being able to take delivery of a new car), the supply and availability of used cars has been significantly impacted and may only get worse in the short term. So if you are thinking about buying a used car then again we would suggest that you should start looking sooner rather than later.
